UCB Indonesia reflects on Jakarta Bombings
Sep 22nd, 2009 by Jim Reyes
The recent terrorist bombing of three hotels in Jakarta, highlighted again the delicate situation our team and their families at UCB Indonesia face. They broadcast 12 hours of Christian TV a day in a nation under threat from extremist elements.
Herman Soegeng the Director of UCB Indonesia had this to say “We still do not know why and who – but Noordin (terrorists from Malaysia) is heavily suspected of this bombing. We feel that what happened should awaken us. We do need to pray a lot and just go back to God.”
Herman went on to say “Many Christians and churches in this country are getting too comfortable because of the freedom to become Christians in the largest Muslim country in the world, yet forgot to pray and love them.”
When asked how this will impact Christian Media in Indonesia Herman said “We don’t see Christian media in danger, instead as media, we should recheck ourselves and pray and see the opportunity for sharing the love of Christ.”
Please continue to pray for our UCB family in Indonesia and other parts of the world where our people face political and social unrest.
