Hi ya… I‘m Jim Reyes… station manager at UCB in Davao City in The Philippines As I am writing this, we are gearing ourselves up to meet this Friday (during the Muslim Ramadan feast) to plan to hold our first ever Radiothon here in Davao city. … yes!… first ever!!!!!!!!
The working title is “Operation : Power Team” with a subtitle of “Power for a longer, continuous broadcast”, a radiothon to build 100 (or more) Christians to donate US$10/month (for 1 year or more) solely aimed to fund the electricity (power consumption) monthly bill (which is about US$1,000/month only). We’re planning to host this radiothon on the week of Nov 19-23 with peak on-air activities on Nov 21-23.
Organizing a radiothon is a huge task for a staff of 3, yes… we’re just a staff of 3, that is, me and two technicians. We have about 5 volunteers who come 2-hours per week to help us. YES… WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS! I feel like Gideon with an army of 7! :) What huge FUN!
Many thanks to Andrew Pitchford from our Australia UCB brother , Perry Atkinson from our USA UCB brother and John Marks the CEO of Rhema in Australia,…. a UCB Australia affiliate. These guys sent us the guidance we need. We shall follow their instruction as closely as we can, using them as a base to develop our own radiothon program…… the files you sent John were spot on!
